Lately we’ve been listening quite a lot about Apple-Google rivalry. The biggest among the news is the replacement of Google search engine by Bing (Microsoft). If such a thing happens, loads in the web industry may change. That aside, there’s some issue between Google and Apple about patent rights.

I didn’t know this until I saw this little post on iphonehelp talking about the touch screen issue between Apple and Google. I had believed it had been search engine that was creating the entire problem, but, no, there is more to only one problem.

Apple recently had asked Google to keep touch screen out of Nexus One. One would ask why Apple doesn’t file a lawsuit rather than sending out requests to Google to not incorporate touch screen element in its first cell phone venture. To tell the truth Apple has no option other than requesting- the patent rights of touch screen aren’t quite strong. So even if Apple files a case against a manufacturer, there are good possibilities that Apple will suffer a loss.

There has already been great amount of conflict between Apple and Google - remember the latest one on Google Voice on iPhone? Apple had not allowedthis app to be used on iPhone. (Read the complete story here: GV Mobile Out on Cydia Gets Google Voice on iPhone) The problems between both the big wigs are clearly seen even if they deny accepting it.

This time around it is a bit tricky to foresee anything as the two biggest tech corporations are involved in it. In the past they have also had problems around Chrome OS. Now some legal issues over touch screen application.  Let’s see what the end result will be like. Certainly not a positive one (with Google in the cell phone market, things will only worsen.)
