Until now Google had text translation service on computers which would translate the text written in one language to another language. For example, if you write something in English, using the Google text translator facility you could change it into Spanish. Any of the 52 lanuages in the Google list, for that matter.

Also, in the past Google introduced Voice Search application. This system allows the user to search the web using one’s voice. And now Google is on its way to include both these properties i.e. speech recognition and text translation, and use it on Smartphones. For those who are still not clear, Google is planning at Voice-to-Voice translation facility. If a user talks in English and wants that his message is received at the other end in German, this Voice-to-Voice application will do that for you and translate the speaker’s English into the receiver’s German.

And this has been said by the Google’s Head of Translation service, Franz Och. He has confirmed that his team is working on this voice to voice translation support on Smartphones.

To us it actually seems like the first of its kind technology. No, its not. Sometime back A Gulf enterprise; Sakhr has already developed this technique and has already provided their service to Smartphone brands like iPhone and Blackberry. But their service extends only up to translation from Arabic to English and English to Arabic. You could watch the video under this post on OnlyGizmos.Com- Google Working On Voice-To-Voice Translation For Smartphones.

The service may take some time, and will be available probably in a year’s time. A voice-to-voice translation on Smartphone would take the communication industry a step higher. But let’s wait and see how many languages Google Voice-to-Voice translator will translate- 52 languages like Google text translator or more languages than that. Only time will tell.
