The release of the new Blackberry Storm2 has been eagerly anticipated by consumers almost since the first Storm became available. Want to learn the new without forgetting the old? No worries the Storm2 incorporates everything from the initial Storm, just improving on user experience and superior functionality. Tired of waiting on slow loading web pages and poor reaction time? Well worry no further; RIM has vastly improved overall speed issues on all facets on the Storm2. The Storm2 incorporates RIM’s SurePress Technology which has it’s fans and foes. Whether you’re a fan or not the Storm2 has made large strides in properly integrating the technology properly that will make you a believer in no time. Both flash memory and onboard media memory have been doubled from the original Storm, now 256MB, and 2GB, respectively. Perhaps they should write this as the Storm2’s main marketing campaign, the Storm2 finally includes wireless technology into their device. Now you can access the internet at any local hotspot.
Even though the new Storm2 has the look and feel of the original Storm, it actually weighs a bit more than its younger sibling. This is because RIM took this time to redesign the Storm2 with higher quality construction. The display has also been changed to one that is more stable on the device also integrating the main keys on the display which keeps the dirt from getting into the device. The audio speakers have been strategically placed on the Storm2 at the base of the unit. This allows clear audio to be transmitted while the Storm2 is lying on its back without the need of an extra stand. The Palm PRE is a similar phone to the Blackberry Storm2 as it is touchscreen, so is the Palm Pixi as well.
The improvements released with the Blackberry Storm2 have certainly not yet made the Storm obsolete, which is good news to many who have invested time and effort into making their devices work for them. Especially with rumors of a soon to be released software upgrade that may improve functioning on the Storm by including many of the software features of the Blackberry Storm2, the biggest improvements may prove to be the hardware and design, which many will find they can wait out their contracts to upgrade. If you opt out of your contract and rush to get the Storm2 I really don’t blame you. With a more solid construction, a sexier feel and enhanced functionality the Blackberry Storm2 is well worth the upgrade.
